Short stories (spanish)

ISBN (epub): 9789588732145
ISBN (mobi): 9789582012359

The six stories abridged here are a testament to the strength of a harmonic language in the service of fiction in the purest of forms: the limits to which the desperation of men can get and their immediate consequences. Under circumstances of extreme pressure, the characters revealed by the author are as human as the reader himself, and his decisions in these cases of misunderstanding are contaminated by clumsiness and chance. These are people who in the midst of anxiety determine their own destinies without contemplating the future, and this, in most cases, leads to ruin or leaves them amid an indeterminate territory. The reader finds in this book, therefore, the human being faced with his own impulses and his destructive mind. It's precisely the overuse of thought, the daunting doubt, the uncertainty, which leads these individuals to their loss.

In La calle del Capitán, Anselmo waives his personal paradise by a naive mistrust; in Obscuridad, mental tricks are all there is to imagine the narrator free, but paradoxically that plunges him deeper into misery; Andolfo finds himself as the guide of a community that supports him because his character has stood in the midst of a war; in Eran los tiempos, Leda and the narrator are impose their respective blocks and cancel each other; Meditations is, in fact, the monologue of a mind falling into the void; and finally, Matilde, doubts pride and love in an instant in which past and present become one.
